Can anyone tell me the difference between Humminbird's UniMap and Navionics software/chips?

The unitmap is a generic background map with 30 meter resolution.  It will only show major highways and interstates and no contour depth lines for lakes.  The Navionics cartograph will show detailed lake contour maps.

Thank you..as I thought. Does Humminbird make a model that is Navionics ready, or will I need to go for a Lowrance??

Any gps chartplotter from Humminbird is Navionics compatible.  Models include the 580, 595, 757, 767, and 787 just to name a few.  The 787 can be purchased with Navionics maps preloaded into the internal memory of the unit.  No chips required.  Just look for NVB package.
