Yesterday I went with a friend to a local lake that is infested with milfoil.

 

He just got a fish finder and we tried marking waypoints to map out the milfoil weediness, but were slightly unsuccessful. 

 

Does anyone have tips for me on how to mark weediness?

Maybe if you stated what finder you have and how you guys were unsuccessful someone could possibly point you in the right direction. I'm still a newb as I only took up fishing again last year and have only really played around with my finder for a couple of months. Mine has side imaging so I'd probably just use that if the vegetation wasn't grown up to the surface yet.

 

 

 

Depends on several factors, but one good way is to just focus on marking the points and indentations along the weedline, along with any unusual things just outside the main weedline (rockpiles, hard bottom, isolated clumps, etc.). These are all going to be high percentage areas to focus on, then just quickly fish between the marked areas, slowing down on the waypointed spots.
