new tournament boat

Featured Replies

I just got a 2006 Z19 with a 225 Yamaha HPDI on it.  Last year i went up to the Buffalo Elite series tournament and on the final day we went up there early for the launch.  talking to one of our friends who was a second year pro who made the top 12 and a few of the guys from the "Dirty Dozen", we learned that most of what is in these pros boats are tools and spares.  they carry one rod box filled with rods one big compartment of tackle  and the rest is tools and spares.  this is my first bass boat.  I was wondering what tools do all of you guys use and carry?

thanks,

Ben

Congrats on the new boat to you.  I would make sure that I have all safety equipment and that they are not expired.  There is a small boat tool kit that you can buy.  Then extra nut, prop, and cable for your trolling motor.  That is a start, as you spend more time with your boat, you will get a good feel for what you need.  Also some fuses.

I carry:

tools (a kit that has all necessities and electrical stuff)

first aid kit

distilled water for batteries

extra oil

extra PFD's

obvious safety equipment like flares

fuses

drift sock

extra livewell pump

spare drain plug

raingear

gloves and hat for cold weather runs

sunscreen

bug repellant

anchor

rope

Of course all the tackle and rods!

I'm sure there is stuff I'm forgetting but I like to be prepared!

Best of luck with the Z-19 Ben, I'm planning on trading my ProCraft next year for one!

I have seen a lot of pros carrying an extra trolling motor. Other then that bassnleo's list sounds good.

I like to carry a small socket set, prop wrench several sizes of philips and flat head screw drivers, a couple pairs of pliers, spare prop, spare trolling motor with plug already wired so all you have to do is pull the old one out and put the spare in and plug it in.( they fit pretty well in spare rod locker) and everything else bassnleo said. :) best of luck to you

Ya'll have failed to mention the most important thing...Spare clothes to keep you warm and dry...None of the above matter if you are dying due to exposure...

Carry a push pole. It can save you a tmotor transducer. I broke one off going after pard's spinnerbait one night $80 for a new one. A good fiberglass pole set me back $4.95. It will never come out of my boat.
