I'm mainly a bass fisherman but recently dabbled on the dark side by learning to fly fish. I have owned waders for 32 years but never breathable ones. Once dry, can I fold them up in the box that they came in or is that a no no? I have always hung my hip waders upside down, but the breathable chest waders are a different material. It sure would be nice to fold them and store them, but causing them to leak wouldn't be worth it.

Mine (ORVIS)  came folded in the box not sure how long they where in the box  but I have them hanging in a spare closet on a hanger.

Such brings up the question.... mine came folded in a box too. If I can fold them up and put them back in the box they will be out of the way. But as I said, if it damages them it wouldn't be worth it. Closet space is at a premium in my house and the danger of damage from hanging in the garage is likely.

I have breathable waders, and I fold them.  Once they're totally dry, I don't think it will make a difference.  Of course, if you fold them when they're damp, that will damage them, so make sure they're bone-dry first.

I agree with Tokyo.  I hang mine until they are completely dry and then fold them for storage.

If you have room to let them hang, I would.  Its easy to hook them on a hanger w/ clothes pins.

The only thing about folding them is eventually it can wear a spot in them.  I would think it would be ok if you didn't move them much or have anything on top of them to form a crease.  

I have had countless breathables.  most of them have broken down where the neoprene meets the material or where I have folded them over and over in the same place.  Please note that I used to be in them for over 60 days a year and I would bet I put them up more than once still wet but folded (or piled in the back of the truck).  

So in short - I would say it shouldn't be an issue - just be aware - maybe try to fold them differently each time to avoid wear in the same place.
