Helix 10 erratic depth readings

Featured Replies

I am running a Helix 10 MEGA DI GPS GN2 on the bow with the DI transducer on the TM. When the transducer is about 3' or less off the bottom I'm getting crazy depth readings jumping all over the place from 1000' to 300' back to 3' back to 1000', etc. It doesn't seem to matter if the TM is running or not. In deeper water it works fine. Is this normal?

Perhaps this can help - found it on a Humminbird Helix tips and tricks forum.

I had a similar problem with my bow mount helix 7. In water less than 5 ft. on a hard bottom, it would add about 10ft. to the depth.

I found this same article and tried it.

It does work.

The link is no longer working. I am having this problem and was curious if someone could update me on the fix?

Mine only does it when I have the transducer buried in the mud. I had to take my TM in for service one time and the guy asked me if I used my prop to till a garden, I just told him I like shallow water.
