New to Drop Shot

Featured Replies

New to drop shop fishing, wanted a setup just for that. Iv only used baitcasters and was wanting a spinning setup. Iv bought 8 new rod and reels  the last month ( been working a lot of overtime) and this will be my last setup so I was wanting to spend around $100 for a rod and $100 for a reel.. was thinking about a St. Croix Bass x  MLXF 6”10 with a Diawa Fuego LT 2500D XH? Any suggestions on my pick

I would try to get a St. Croix Mojo Bass with a Daiwa BG. Also, I would go with a 2000 sized reel, as it holds adequate 6 and 8lb fluro, and 10-15lb braid as well should you go that way. I have a 2000 sized BG paired with a 6'9" ML/XF Avid X, and it's pretty well balanced and if you can't feel a bite on that, there's probably something wrong with the nerves in your hands. The Mojo Bass has the same blank as the Avid X.

I think for a max budget of $200 for the rod and reel the Fuego and Bass X is an excellent choice.
