Antares DC or Steez SV TWS

Featured Replies

So I have a chance of picking one. Which one should I choose? Using it as a all around set up.

For me, for the money you'd be spending, the Daiwa. The Steez weighs 5.6 oz while the Shimano weighs 7.05 oz. And I prefer the braking on the Daiwas over the Shimano DC's. But both are great reels, can't go wrong with either.

I have both reels.  I will recommend daiwa steez sv tw.

Two different animals, really. For all around use, I'd pick the Steez. That said, I do feel like the Antares is a better reel. It's just more limited in its suitable applications.

icast is july 11 where they announce new reels. i would wait for that first. maybe you'll see something you like.

Curado DC, it looks like a perfect reel. (At least for me) and the reviews I’ve seen have been amazing. And it’s half the price.

I have a Steez SV TW and while it is a great reel, imho it isn’t worth the msrp.  Unless weight is a make or break for you, a sv103 (~$250-300) and your choice of aftermarket spoold gets you the same preformance.

Hi,

I have the Steez SV TWS, had the 2016 Antares DC and now have the 2018 Antares DC MD.

It really depends.

If you are looking for a reel that is super light and can throw light lures on a medium or a Medium-Heavy rod, I would go for the Steez. Especially for techniques like finesse jigs, worms, jerkbaits and little poppers.

If you are looking for a power reel that you use for medium-large Jigs, spinnerbaits, swimbaits (up to 3oz) I would go for the 2016 Antares DC. The sound is adictive and the reel is just sturdier for higher resistance baits, than the Steez.

Get the 2018 Antares MD if you throw heavier lures and want to use the reel in saltwater. The reel is not that good with lures under 1/2 oz.

Let me know if you have other questions.
