Lately I've been trying to figure out ossipee lake in New Hampshire. It's a big sand bowl essentially. I've caught some dinks here and there and I've driven around and have marked some just sitting out in 30'. My biggest question is this. Are the smallmouth in ossipee roaming (cruising around working bait)? Or am I missing something huge? If anyone can point me in the right direction it's much appreciated. I'm not looking for spots, just wondering what the smallmouth do this time of year there.

You must be fishing apart of NEBA. I will be seeing ya there! I usually do pretty well but they have been doing weed kills the past few years that seem to be screwing things up

They're roaming, but usually will stick fairly close to the places they used for spawning.  Ledges that are close to big points.  That's what I would focus on with crankbaits, dropshots, and jigs.

If I pick up on some schools of smallmouth in my lake, I dropshot down to them and usually get a few.  But the bigger ones seem to be all over the place, and I get them with search baits (spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jerkbaits, swimbaits).  The biggest smallmouth I've caught this year are in sandy areas on the border between deep and shallow water.
