Hey, everyone.

 

Looking for info on a local fishing hole again. Francis E. Walter dam is practically in my backyard, and yet I never even knew about it until recently. I have read the fishing can be really tough there just trying to pick a spot from shore and having at it. Also read the dam is loaded with copperheads (and rattlesnakes?) and so it's not a great idea to fish from there. Any info on how to approach fishing this place would be immensely appreciated. 

 

Also, if anyone has any info on where in nearby Hickory Run state park I could find some good smallmouth fishing, that would also be great.

FEW is hard to fish from shore. Its a better place to fish with a boat or kayak. I'm not sure Hickory Run has smallmouths anywhere in the park. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. The stream that runs through the park can be fun to fish for trout but they are natives and small. As always, check the PA laws as to where you can fish and with what. If you want to smallmouth fish try the Lehigh River. The bass are small but plentiful.
