eastern PA lakes worth checking out?
I second the giving pond suggestion. Unfortunately I have not been there in several years, since my job is no longer down there, but it was one of my go-tos when I frequented the area. Not only are there plentiful largemouth of size, there are some serious channel cats in there as well. It’s one of the better places in this area for bank fishing, with LOTS of accessible shoreline. Having a kayak is even better though. You could also try Brady’s lake, up here in my neck of the woods. From my experience the QUANTITY isn’t really there, if you’re looking for nonstop action, but the quality is. Early morning and evening, right before dark, for optimal results. I’ve gotten skunked more than a few times fishing in the middle of the day off the dam. If nothing else I enjoy it more than some of the other well-known lakes in the Poconos due to there being far less activity in comparison.

Eastern PA Fishing Reports
I hit Brady’s today for the first time. I went at a terrible time and the bite was slow. Got one dink, had what I believe was about a 3-3.5 pounder spit the hook a few feet from shore, and got this one in the picture. Got them all within the span of an hour once the sun started to sink a little bit. Granted I only fished Pocono lake once, but it seems the bass are much more abundant at Brady’s than there. Where are you staying? I live about halfway down that mountain off 115, and my girlfriend’s family has a place in Locust Lake Village.

The other lake is Pocono Lake Preserve I guess? I’ve heard people call it “twin lakes.” Isn’t Arrowhead private?

Eastern PA Fishing Reports
Been getting a ton of largemouth at Mauch Chunk in Jim Thorpe, but nothing of any size. Fishing from shore on the far end where the dam is. Moderate success at Gouldsboro lake, with one about 2 1/2 pounds. As usual, though, the hordes of tourists, and pickerel, make it difficult. Same story at Mauch Chunk. Tried Pocono Lake for the first time last night. First cast, huge pickerel bit my line in half. Put a leader on, and hauled in a pickerel around 5 pounds. Didn’t get a single bite the rest of the night. Side note: Anyone fish here (right on 940) or Brady’s Lake right next to it? This was my first time, and I’m wondering if people are pulling nice bass out of either one. There were TONS of good sized fish jumping and breaking the surface around sunset.

Calling all PA people: Lehigh Gorge State Park
I did try, at the spot where everyone puts their rafts and kayaks in. I walked up and down the river for about a mile and caught nothing. It was hard to even find a good spot. I am really lost as far as where to fish the Lehigh in this area. Always end up frustrated and going to my go-to lakes instead. ?♂️

Francis E. Walter reservoir/dam (& Hickory Run SP)
Hey, everyone. Looking for info on a local fishing hole again. Francis E. Walter dam is practically in my backyard, and yet I never even knew about it until recently. I have read the fishing can be really tough there just trying to pick a spot from shore and having at it. Also read the dam is loaded with copperheads (and rattlesnakes?) and so it's not a great idea to fish from there. Any info on how to approach fishing this place would be immensely appreciated. Also, if anyone has any info on where in nearby Hickory Run state park I could find some good smallmouth fishing, that would also be great. Thank you in advance.

Brodhead creek, Pocono mountains: Any smallmouth in there?
I appreciate the response. I was thinking of exploring the shoreline from Brodhead creek park south a mile or two. I'm guessing I'm not gonna find many smallies there? As far as the Delaware/DWG... I unfortunately just don't know the spots. It's maddening to me, because I spent the first 25 years of my life in NWNJ/Central NJ, fishing MOSTLY the Delaware, and knew all the great spots. Unfortunately, it's just not feasible to take that trip to my old spots, as I already commute into NJ on a daily basis as it is. So anymore driving than I already do is out of the question. I would LOVE to be able to find some prime shore access in DWG. I actually took a trip to Smithfield beach last week specifically to stake out fishing spots, and found absolutely nothing. Every spot I checked out was knee deep as far as the eye could see. Needless to say, any advice on spots in that area, and in the area of the Gap, would be GREATLY appreciated.

Brodhead creek, Pocono mountains: Any smallmouth in there?
For my fellow residents of NEPA -- Do any of you know if there's smallmouth in Brodhead creek? I have never fished it, mainly because I don't trout fish, and cannot find any info doing a google search. I grew up and spent most of my life in New Jersey, and there were tons of small rivers and creeks with bass in them (sometimes even largemouth), so I don't see why Brodhead creek couldn't hold them. But everything you read is related to trout, and I don't personally know anyone who's fished it. And if anyone HAS caught smallmouth in there, could you point me in the general direction of some decent parts for catching them? Thanks so much.

Crazy carp!
The first time I witnessed them doing this was on a river in the middle of the night. Scared the living **** out of my buddy and I, as I never knew carp did this and we couldn’t see what was thrashing around on the shore just 100 feet or so from us...

Catching channel cats in a lake
I’ve done lots of catfishing in my life, almost always on the Delaware river. However, as I’ve mentioned in another post, lately I’ve been fishing mostly with my 6 year old daughter, so fishing the Delaware isn’t really an option. Anyway, I plan on going out tonight on Mauch Chunk lake in Jim Thorpe, PA to try and land some catfish. People apparently have a lot of luck here with catfish, and as a matter of fact last weekend when we were there a guy was setting up on the fishing dock for the night to do just that. I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips for catfishing on the lake rather than the rivers/streams. We will be fishing off the dock and while I’m not too familiar with the lake’s specifics, it appears relatively deep there right off the shore. Anyone who’s familiar with this lake in particular would be a huge help. Thanks.

Maine lake recommendations
Ahh, I gotcha. I believe we spent most of our time above while on the boat, but I regularly fished both sides from the shore. If I remember correctly, the side "below" is much shallower.

Maine lake recommendations
Not sure what you mean. There’s the causeway along the shore, on both sides of the bridge, lined with huge boulders on the shore and into the water.

Some of my fondest childhood memories and best bass fishing I’ve ever done were at Moose pond. There are some absolute monsters along the shore in those boulders. Also lost more big bass than I can count after they shredded the line on said boulders... In the same general vicinity, if you have a small boat, Beaver pond is another great one. If I remember correctly, though, you can’t have gas powered motors there. My grandfather had a bass boat with a 9.9 hp engine and at Beaver pond he always took the dingy out.

Good locations in NEPA/Pocono mountains
Hi, everyone. First post here. I’m located in the Poconos, Monroe county to be exact. I moved here from New Jersey about 7 years ago, and still am not all that familiar with the local fishing spots. I was born and raised in NJ and knew all the spots like the back of my hand, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten to do as much fishing as I’d like since I moved out here. I always mainly fished the Delaware, but I’m looking for spots that are more kid-friendly. I have a six year old who absolutely loves fishing, but for obvious reasons, it’s difficult to fish the river with her. I’ve done plenty of fishing at Beltzville and am not a huge fan, to be honest. Recently discovered Mauch Chunk and I love it, but it’s about a 45 minute ride, so I’m looking for more options. Creeks, lakes, whatever will work well with my kid. Not particularly into trout fishing, so streams and rivers that only really house trout are not my thing. Any help is greatly appreciated!
