Hi,

 

Does anyone fish these lakes in North Central PA?  These are the ones I fish and am looking for any tips.  Every time out we catch a lot of small ones. 

I live in the Allentown area but my parents have land in Tioga County so I fish these lakes a few times a year.  Though not enough to be completely familiar with them.  I usually have most of my success with the easy stuff (senko, drop shot, etc) and topwaters in the morning and evening.  There is a great bait shop in the area, Wellsboro Tackle Shack.  They have a news bulletin on their website that they keep up to date with what has been working on the local lakes.  They are also a wealth of knowledge if you stop in their shop sometime as well.

I've heard, only heard, that Hammond is incredible for pan fish. Big crappie and plenty of them. 

Hammond lake holds the state record crappie. This year we caught plenty of them, the majority were no bigger then the palm of my hand though. 

 

Bass fishing is what we are targeting to improve on.  Are drop shots worth doing more than the carolina rig?
