14ft Aluminum V-Hull

Featured Replies

Hey guys im lookin at gettin a boat here in a couple weeks and found a great buy. Its a 14ft v hull with a 50" beam. I was wondering how stable it would be on the water putting a casting deck at the level of the seats. If its to unstable are there any ways on improving the stablitiy of the boat?? thanks

Welcome aboard,  I'm not familiar with the V-hulls you hopefully are getting but, I could give ya a better answere if I knew what your floor width size was.  example my floor is 36 inch ;)

Vees don't usually have a good bottom width, as they are soft chine, and not hard.  That being said, I just sold a 12 footer with a 56 inch beam, and it wasn't all that stable.  You could stand up, but you had to have a knee against the bench seat to stay stable in the bow, and in the stern you could stand alright.  But, it was no candidate for a deck.

Hope you can get a bit of a reference from that.

14' is fine to deck, the KEY is to follow Bowtechs lead and keep the center of gravity as low as possible.  If it's a jon with a mod v Bow, you are fine with decking at bench level.  If a straight V, lower the center of gravity like Bowtech did.

Good luck and keep us posted ;)
