Starting Over

Featured Replies

Hey all,  when you airbrush a crankbait and you are unhappy with how it looks, how do you start over?  Assuming it is before clear coating, do you need to remove all the previous paint or can you just shoot another coat of primer and start anew?  I use all Createx and Wicked acrylics.  Thanks in advance.

I use water based paints but I take all the paint off before painting again. Yes, you can just prime over the old color but with each coat of paint, you take a chance of losing the fine details on the lure body. Water based paint comes off with warm soapy water and a toothbrush.

You’re gonna have to shoot a new white color basecoat anyway, so the simplest way to go is wash it off.

Yup agreed with everyone else. It’s easy to was off. I will say be careful because if you get water inside your blank you need to let it dry out before you start over.
