PEDESTAL SEATS

Featured Replies

My boat has 5 locations fro pedestal posts and seats. I just got the boat and I also injured my leg so I can't get in the boat to check.......Do the pedestal posts lock in so that they can be removed to place the seats at the bow and stern or are they fixed into the base. I want to know if I  need to buy 2 more seats and posts?

Thanks

Hate to hear of your injuries, hope you mend well and fast.

90% of the seats will come up just by lifting on them. There is a post rod that goes down into the pedestal....... you should be able to move your seat to any of them that you wish with ease. Some may need just a touch of lubercation from time to time if they sit up on one location for long periods of time.

Hope this helps you out.

thanks for the response. The seat will come off the post, but will the post come off the base?

Most of the ones I have ever seen do come out....... if they have been there a while it may take some effort...of twisting back and forth... again they have a smaller diamater post that fits in the hole.....of the pedistal.

Some posts have a plastic grommet at the bottom that makes them difficult to remove easily.  You really have to give it a tug to remove it.  I got so tired of mine that I cut off the grommet with a hacksaw.

On mine the seat just sits on the pedestal and can be pulled off and the pedestal has threads on the bottom that screw into the base.  The seat swivels, not the pedestal.  Both can be removed easily.
