Disconnect TM when charging? And TM outlet question.
I just got a TM for my boat. It is a 24 V Bow mount. I also just installed the on board charger. Do I need to disconnect the jumper cable to the TM batteries when charging? The boat has the factory installed TM plug (2 prong male). I found the female outlet inside the rod holder when I purchased the boat. The previous owner never had a TM. How do I know if the outlet is for a 12v system or if it can handle the 24v?

Bow Mount TM quick release bracket....your opinion, is it worth having?
I never had a bow mount TM before so................I am debating on getting the quick release bracket. What is the difference between the quick release bracket and the MinnKota removable trolling motor mount? Are they worth having? Is it necessary to remove the TM for trailering? Ohh yeah, Aluminum or composite? Thanks

wiring the TM/Charger and breaker
I am waiting the arrival of the TM/ on board four bank charger and breaker. I bought a 24 bow mount TM along w/ two new 12v Interstae batteries. I also have a battery for the OB and one for the accessories at the stern. Will I have to do anything other than hooking each lead from the on board charger to each individual battery? I realize I will have to splice the circuit breaker between the battery and TM...I was just wondering if I am overlooking anything.

forgive me for my ignorance
the grizzly's do seem nice. What about the G3's? I was concerned as well about weight limits and being able to go w/ friends. I ended up getting a 16ft Starcraft Starfire ( aluminum) Deep V and I love it. I may not be able go in 6" of water but I can get into about 12" of water, i can go in some of the bigger lakes and there is plenty of room. The boat holds up to 6 people or 825 lbs and it is stable. Good luck w/ your quest.

TM quick release bracket and stabilizer necessity or luxury
that sucks. If you were like most left wingers you would have sued the dept. of conservation and natural resources for the loss of your motor. I didn't realize that was what they were for. I thought it was for trailering the boat to keep it from bouncing around.

the stabilizer secures the tm to the boat http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21276-cat21380&id=0001113012348a&navCount=1&podId=0001113&parentId=cat21380&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21380&hasJS=true

TM quick release bracket and stabilizer necessity or luxury
What do you think? I just ordered the bow mount TM, on board charger and circuit breaker. What do you guys think, do I need anything else for this installation and what do you think about the bracket and stabilizer?

Re: Aluminum vs Fiberglass
it depends on where you plan on fishing. A friend of mine has a fiberglass and he had to patch it more than once from fishing shallow area and hitting rocks.

Help w/ charger hook up
I currently have two batteries hooked up, one for the accesories and one for the OB. I am in the process of buying a 24V TM and debating on an onboard charger or portable. I bought 2 new Interstate Marine batteries (29 bank) for the TM. I am not sure if I should just hook the accesories to the OB and get rid of one of the older batteries or not and then get a 4 bank onboard charger or portable. Weight and storage isn't an issue. I was wondering how you run the wiring for an on board charger . I take it each individual battery gets connected to the charger? The reason I ask is because I have a 24 volt (2 12v batteries for my trolling motor) system . Do I also need a circuit breaker for each battery? I am clueless on this issue and wanted to get a better idea so I can buy everything needed at once. Is there anything else I should get? If I decide to go w/ a single bank portable charger......how does that work for charging the 2 batteries wired together to make them a 24 volt system? Do I have to disconnect them prior to charging? If possible...attatch a picture to how you have your system wired. THANKS!

Extra cost when buying a boat?
Title, tax, tags and registration. And then there is all the accessories that you need.....bigger TM, rod holders, cushy seats and a cup holder. The tax you pay based on the sale price of the boat. The tag fee is about 36 The reg fee is about 40 I don't recall the title fee/notary fee. I would guess about 50

Hauling a boat
I used to haul a 12' jon in the bed of my 6' bed pickup. I also had the gate down. orange flag and two ratchet straps. I never had a problem. It gets old unloading/loading the equipment, but it is worth it. Good luck and happy fishing.

Batteries
I apologize if my questions are less than professional, but I am a novice when it comes to outboard motors. My boat has 2 batteries at the stern. I beleive that one is soley for outboard and they other runs the bilge, lights, and live well. Does the battery for the outboard need to be charged or does the outboards have an alternator that keeps the battery charged? I also have a place near the bow for a third battery, which would be for the trolling motor(once I get one). Is there such a thing as a deep cycle battery charger or does any typical 12v battery charger work?

PEDESTAL SEATS
My boat has 5 locations fro pedestal posts and seats. I just got the boat and I also injured my leg so I can't get in the boat to check.......Do the pedestal posts lock in so that they can be removed to place the seats at the bow and stern or are they fixed into the base. I want to know if I need to buy 2 more seats and posts? Thanks

Eastern Canada bass fishing
Hello, I am obviously new to the forums and wanted to get your feedback. I just purchased a used and in excellent shape, 2001 Starcraft Starfire 16ft V, w 50 HP Merc. I am anxious to get the season started. I am looking for places to go fishing in Canada. I live in Eastern PA and I wanted to find a place for a yearly trip in Canada for large mouths. Hopefully a cabin on the water for 4-6 people and it doesn't have to be fancy just clean and cheap. Any comments is appreciated.
