Skeeter Vs. Xpress

Featured Replies

Im in the market for a bass boat, and i have it narrowed down to two boats. Either the Skeeter ZX 190 with a 175 HPDI, or an Xpress X19TS with a 200 vmax. Both boats are the about the same price. The reason i am considering the Xpress is because where im fishing there are alot of stumps and im worried that with a fiberglass boat i will be in the repair shop alot. I like that the Xpress is aluminum, it is a bigger faster boat than the skeeter, but it isn't quite as refined. And, all the pros use fiberglass, soo that makes me lean towards the skeeter. Can anyone help me with the decesion? Thanks!

Have owned and fished out of an Xpress for 6 years now . I go where most glass boys wont go espiaclly in the spring. My fishing partner has a glass (ranger) is more comfortable of a ride and better in the wind but he wont take it back where the BIG Ones hide. We fish 90% of the time out of my boat. Also gas milage is much better running the boat and towing it. If you are going to fish for pleasure and not tourney I would go with a tin boat again

Thanks for the input. I usually fish tournaments against my friends just for fun, but I might start fishing some local tournaments in Lake Lanier. How does the Xpress handle rough water compared to fiberglass boats? Fishing Lanier during the spring and summer, the water is rough due to yachts most of the time. How does the interior comapare to the skeeter? Obviosouly it isnt as nice, but functionally how do they differ?

I'm considering the same two and if I decide on the Skeeter it will get a Gorilla Hull added to it; I fish Toledo Bend so hitting stumps are quite common. I don't know where you live but it may be worth checking out Al Drewett of Toledo Fiberglass.

Advantages:

Exceptionally durable, carries a lifetime warranty against impact with stumps.

The solid color gel is easily matched or touched up.

Allows you to fish anywhere your motor can push your boat without fear or damage to the hull.

Appearance:

The outside finished appearance is similar to that of a golf ball or vinyl texture. The finish is also similar to the finish used on the old Allison Craft racing boats. A solid matching, or contrasting color, is used in place of metal flake colors at the customer's discretion. The "Gorilla Hull" and finish color are blended at the base of the sides, bottom finish at the bow to keep the finish and appearance as appealing as possible.
