What do you guys think????

Featured Replies

I've had my 18' Venture Dominator bass boat for 8 or 9 years. It's a 1989. I love everything about this boat. Spent $2200.00 last spring having the 150 h.p. Evinrude overhauled. Got it back and completely replaced the carpet inside. Seats are still in great shape. Hopefully I'll get some pics up soon. The thing is, the paint is faded of course and the shine is gone. I've tried buffing, wet sanding and buffing. It looks ok when it's clean, but could be much better. I could always look into a new paint job, clear coat and everything....OR....I was even considering the camo stick on stuff you see on pickup trucks. My boat is strictly fishing, I don't hunt. Am I crazy for considering this. Thanks guys!!!

Have you tried an application of Vertglass?  Overtons sells it for around $100.  It really puts the shine and luster back in a finish.  Now it's only good for around a year and you will have to reapply each season but given the cost of a professional re-finish or having some camo skin put on the outside of the boat it would certainly be worth a try.

You got some paint guys on here that should be posting soon, I can't help ya there on improving your paint except for re-doing it.

I will say that I love a good camo job :o

I seriously doubt that the bass care what your boat looks like as you reel them in. As long as your boat is functional, sound, and safe, who cares what it looks like. There are better things to spend Bait Monkey's money on than cosmetics. Just my opinion of course.

Why don't you look at a wrap just for the top deck. I had a friend that priced a wrap for his 19' boat instead of shooting clear coat. The price for the top section was 475.00. That's a lot cheaper than painting and you can have any grapic if you wish for no extra cost. Granted you will have to unrig the boat to install correctly but it sure saved him a ton of money and it looks great. He had the company design it exactly as it came from the factory. It was an exact match, been on the boat for almost two years and looks great. I priced one for my backup skeeter and I am going to wrap the top instead of shooting the clear later this summer.
