Fort Lauderdale Peas

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I’m new to bassresource and new to FL.  I’ve fished my entire life for largemouth and trout in PA and now I’m looking to get into freshwater fishing in FL.  I’m in the Fort Lauderdale area and want to try to Griffin Road Canal, Everglades or Miami Airport Lakes for some peacocks.  Anyone want to meet up and show me the tricks to get on these guys?!

I’ve tried a few times myself and haven’t had any luck.

I haven't had much luck in the C-11 along Griffin rd, but the canals that feed into it have been better places for me. In the C-11, there is some good small snook action between the turnpike and Davie road.

I'm a novice with peas myself, just got my first one this spring and have been trying to find a dependable way to catch them.

Thanks!  I got on some peas today in the Davie/Weston area.

Ok so I'm not in FL but do they allow you to fish in lakes at an airport? Seems a bit unsafe and unsecure. Do you have to go through TSA, take off your fishing boots, put your rod & reel through the xray machine?

Congratulations on catching your first peacock bass. You fished a very good area for peacock bass and I am sure you will catch some big ones as time passes.
