I might be getting a Daiwa BG 3500 (2016) and a Daiwa Acculite 8'6 medium light. Is this a good combo?  The daiwa acculite was the only rod in store that was 8'6 and had the medium specification. I will be using this rod & reel for saltwater fishing (pier and inshore)

 

So any suggestions? Anything I should change?

Know nothing of that series rod, nor do I fish saltwater so take this for what it is worth....nothing.  I would say if it were a Medium...okay.  A Medium Light?  You must be fishing for some small fish.  I wouldn't be hoisting any fish up to the pier using that rod unless it was a pretty small one.
