If I can get a Revo ALX for 105 should I do it? It is new, not sure if 3rd or 4th Gen.

i had one, it felt like a cross between a gen 3 revo sx and a  silver max. It had the same crappy brakes.

you can get a gen 4 revo sx online for about the same price. much better reel in my opinion. I currently own 4 of them.

I can get an SX for under 100, so that is awesome thanks, although it may be a gen 3 not sure how to tell. The SX is on Academy, and it looks exactly like the Gen 4 on TW.

the gen 4 is quite a bit different than the gen 3.

gen 4 is more streamlined and has much better brakes.

Cool I am going with it, being a 6:6:1 gear ratio pretty much seals that it is Gen 4. Thanks, can’t wait to try it. Also have a Gen 3 S and a Gen 3 STX that I got for 100 for both under the tree. Think I did pretty good this year on reels.

Thanks for your replies.

ALX came out about a year ago before revoX, SX or STX. They are the same body Gen4. I think ALX came out about the same time as Mag2 which is target those who want extreme light weight reel. I believe ALX have aluminum main gear and better bearing but since it older it got regular magnetic brake instead of dual brake system icv4/6. The weight ALX 5.5oz and SX 6.6oz. I think the have now AL-F to replace ALX.

I say get it, it’ll take a bit to dial in but once you have it set up right it take minimal effort to make long cast. I love my ALX
