I’m fairly new to the South Carolina area and grew up fishing off shore fish and big game. I usually have no problem in the summer but could use some tips for tackle use etc, in the cold waters. I don’t fish on a boat and usually fish near rock piles(just seems that’s whats always around). I used crankbaits today and a few different jigs. 

Ned will get it done. Shad rap. Drop shot. 

Big lakes like Murray, Hartwell, or Marion and Moultrie or ponds? Northern or western SC or down in the Lowcountry? The weather in the Lowcountry is a lot different than the other parts of the state, especially this time of year.

 

I live in the Lowcountry and it can be 28 degrees in the morning and 70 degrees in the afternoon this time of year. In the ponds that I fish the bite is slow. The baitfish aren't visible around the shorelines (at least the times I fish) and I haven't seen bass approaching the shore to feed.

 

Not much has been working lately other than a Shadow Rap Shad. Most of the hits I have had with the Shadow Rap are in deeper channels. However, deeper is a relative term. The channels are only about 8 feet deep but there is a wide swath of shallower waters along the banks of the channels. I've also had some hits on a Teckel Sprinker frog when there has been mostly cloudy conditions.
