LMS520C, GPS Not Responding

Featured Replies

Hello all, looking for help. I bought a LMS 520C, hooked it up but the unit will not recognize the GPS. All I get is GPS not responding error message. Anyone have this type of problem with their 520 and how'd you fix it. Any information is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. Rick

You have to have power to the antenna as well as to the head.  The NMEA must be powered with the red going to + and the bare and black wires going to _.  Check to make sure the fuse is good.

When you get that taken care of do a reset.  Turn the unit off.  Press and hold the pages key while you press and hold the power key.

Release both buttons when you see the US map.

Rick, forgive me if I am stating the obvious, but if I am not mistaken, the 520 is designed for mounting in the console and requires an external GPS antenna. Do you have one installed?

Thanks Jig Man and Long Mike.  Oh yes I did make sure the GPS antenna was connected and all other requirements...but lessoned learned, check all connections before asking for help.  I must not of had a good connection on one of the wires because it worked after starting over.  Thanks again for the replies and tomorrow I will see if the transducer works where mounted. Rick while you are at it check to see what version of the software is in the unit.  Mine had 1.2 and was 2 updates behind.  The newest version is 2.3 and will accomodate the Nav. 3D card.
