U.S. Reels

Featured Replies

What ever became of US Reels ?  I came across an ad featuring Jimmy Houston talking about US Reels.  Does anyone know?

I believe they went out of business in 2013. I have a few of there spinning reels and although there is nothing outstanding about them ( tons of bearings etc) they have been trouble free for me since buying them a decade or more ago. You can still find new ones on E bay.

US Reel is out of business for 5 years now.

The spinning reels with oversize spool diameter was a unique design that anglers didn't buy into. As mentioned you can still buy new bubble pack US reels on EBay and the 180SX was a good finesse reel at $100, exceptional buy today new at $40 or less.

I have a US Reel casting reel that I bought on clearance in 2012. I liked their rotating levelwind, it can really sling a bait out there. However after a couple of years, the levelwind bar had some grooves notched in it from using mono line. I removed the levelwind and still use the reel for bluegill and crappie fishing.
