Shimano Tranx 300/301 or Daiwa Lexa 300HD or Lexa Winn 300?

Featured Replies

I'm leaning more towards the 301 Tranx, just not sure of the 2 Daiwas.

What's your call? Performance, palmability, casting?

I'll be using for swimbaits mostly. And if I get myself out there, ocean fishing. I prefer paddle handle than power handle.

I'd go with the Tranx. I have two of them (300's for swimbaits) that have worked flawlessly and the previous generation Lexa that I replaced was nothing but problems with the thumb bar spontaneously disengaging mid-cast. They likely fixed that since it was a common problem and Daiwa is an excellent company, but I've never had a single issue with any of my Shimanos so they tend to get my business.

I can only speak for the Tranx 300 as I've not fished a Lexa.

The 300HG is solid and performed well on several Mexican Beasts this past October
