I recently bought a lowrance hds carbon 7 and i am wanting to put a micro sd chip and was wondering which one is best for the area that i am in (Louisiana) 

it depends on the waters you are fishing.

you need to check if the lakes you fish are mapped with each chip.

 Navionics covers nearly every body of water.

the proprietary chips like lakemaster for hummingbird or lake insight for lowrance usually have better deifinition, but do not always cover every body of water. 

i have a couple humming bird helix 7's. I have both lakemaster and Navionics.

I prefer Lakemaster, but some of the lakes I fish are not covered.

I fish SE LA and I use the Navionics chip and I am more than pleased.
