Humminbird 565

Featured Replies

My Lowe came with a Humminbird SX but no power cord. I bought a power cord for about 12.00 and the SX worked but started acting really wacky after a few months.

My tax return is better than expected this year so I decided to replace the SX with a 565 after reading the reviews and based on the high resolution LCD.

It took about 15 minutes to get it put together and mounted and about 5 minutes to set the basic functions that I was familiar with on the SX. I am very happy with it so far and I did not see any quirks that may be electrical interference since my 565 and the TM are close to each other and connected to the same battery. I thought this may have been the issue with the SX but it must be something else.

The image is great and the backlight is white and not orange like the SX.

The image is far superior to the SX.

I think the dual beam is a plus in our shallow lake (1'-20')

Tomorrow I want to find the bamboo habitat I have dropped over the last three months and marked with my GPS see how it shows up on the 565. In the hour I used it tonight, I found one or two obvious trees, a hole and a nice channel in a very shallow section of the lake.

I did see a very wide (tall) band of artifacts and need to read the manual again see what it was. It almost looks like a thermocline but maybe not. It was apparent through a wide range of sensitivity settings. I think, but am not positive I saw a ball of baitfish several times.

IMO the 565 is the best 'cheap' graph you can buy.  One night on my friend's boat with the 565 was enough to convince me of that.
