float tubes

Featured Replies

i heard they can get you around quite a bit and since i dont fish a lake, it is a marsh kind of place, any1 have any experrience with one? how do u get around?

I have never fished a float tube, but I did fish out of a kick boat for 3 years, similar principal.  I found the best way to get around in the kickboat and have heard for the float tubes is scuba fins.  You can move around effortlessly, turn on dime and best of all super stealthy.  You can pick up an inexpensive pair at Wally World and the work just as good as the ones sold at Cabelas and BPS specifically for float tubes.

You mentioned marshy areas, I hope that there are no gators, as being gator bait is not a fun way to fish. :)

lol no gators, i live in michigan there are pike in there though but i dunno if pike would bite me or the tube..... :)

Haha, I've been bitten by two pike. One I caught in the boat and was taking the hook out of its mouth and BAM! Lets just say it was followed by quite a blue steak and I'm glad no one else was on the lake. The other time one bit my glove while ice fishing and actually tore it. Nasty things but good eatin.

i've been float tubing for a few years. It's great for small hidden ponds and areas that other people can't get to. It's real nice to be able to cast and use your fins to get around at the same time. If your area is windy at all make sure to have some sort of anchor. It makes staying put alot easier when you find that sweet spot on the lake.

If your marsh isn't to big it should work great. Also as mentioned any pair of scuba fins work fine, no need to spend big bucks on special ones for float tubes
