South East Florida Advice

Recommended Posts

So I am in south Florida very often for work and have yet to ever get to go out on  freshwater.

I stay at my buddies place in Fort Lauderdale and was planning to find a place to rent a bass boat and

take him out for his birthday at the end of march. Always wanted to fish  Okeechobee and planned on renting

a boat from Roland Martin Marina. Just got off the phone with them and you are not aloud on the lake with

they're rentals due to safety because of the water level. So now I am wondering if there are any other options

within 2 hours of Fort Lauderdale to rent a bass boat and have a good chance at catching some nice Florida bass.

Something I have always wanted to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Would love to get a guide but don't think I can afford it.

Thanks in Advance.

Holiday Park and sawgrass park in Broward county on US27 both have boat rental  You would have to call to compare prices.  For fishing results check the fishing forums.

Man you dont need a boat in south Florida! I catch loads of fish from the shore. You really want some fun in south Florida I suggest not limiting yourself to largies. You have to catch a peacock bass. If you have Instagram check out thirsty feeshin. We have loads of pics there for you to see them all. I would suggest just hiring a charter. They have them in palm beach county, I see them cruising canals all the time. They do all the hard work and you will have a chance to catch most exotic species in the area.

You do not need to rent a boat to do well in South Florida and you can do well from the shore. Bring some hollow belly frogs, spinnerbaits, soft stickbaits, flukes, swimbaits, and trick worms. Good luck and have fun!
