Road Trip. Lanier, Chick, Tims Ford, Guntersville
Im going on a 3wk long road trip to unwind from work beginning next week. Any tips for the stated bodies of water? I grew up fishing Lanier so no worries there. Never been to chick but understand their winter patterns, a rig, trap, crank, chatter bait, swimbait etc on channel swings and transitions. I know nothing about Tims Ford other than giant smallmouth, any help here would be appreciated! Big G should fish similar to Chick.

Lake Istokpoga
I haven't been bass fishing in 3 months due to work. How's fishing been on Poga and surrounding area lakes? Not looking for your honey hole, just a general idea of post Irma fishing.

Swimbaiting in South Fl
No, I got tired of losing a $25 bait so I started ordering the Savage Gear 3D trouts. For $10 each it isn't nearly as painful when I lose one. It has a different tail kick, a more violent tail action. They seem to be more durable, I have bent a hook out on a fish unfortunately. Hudds have a better, more realistic color selection

Swimbaiting in South Fl
I followed the same school for about 3 weeks from 14ft to 20ft. Haven't been able to get out there in 2 weeks, I suspect they will be holding in 24-28ft now but I will find out this weekend.

Swimbaiting in South Fl
After 4 trips to, lets call it lake "x", this is where I will catch a DD and hopefully a teener. I've lost a couple good ones, one I wish I saw, and have caught 2 over 6 and a 7. Each trip I learn a little more about this lake.

Lake Wellington, FL
If you see a silver and maroon 19ft Triton, thats me, feel free to roll up and holler. Truthfully I've been hauling up to Sebring and fishing those deeper lakes recently. Couldn't tell ya what the fish are doing out on the osborne chain even if I wanted to, I have not truly fished out there in over a month

Lake Wellington, FL
I was talking about the lake near Palm Beach International Airport off of Southern, before 95. If you can get into the lower part of osborne before the canal to ida there are good largemouth and good pea spots that dont have much pleasure boat traffic, I've also ran north to clark shores from osborne and have done well in there.

"Primitive" camping near Lake Istokpoga, Lake Placid?
I don't want to pay the price for an RV spot, which is all I can really find online. I just want to back the truck in, plug in the boat, and throw up a tent. Any suggestions? I'll sleep in my truck if someone knows of a ramp that that has a power outlet and isn't in a super sketchy area.

Merc overheat alarm randomly at idle
@webertime I just re-tested my thermostats and found one of them was only opening about 1/3 of the way. The stats control water flow at a low rpm range while the poppet valve controls water flow at higher rpms. I was getting the appropriate amount of water while running but when I would get off pad and graph around I wouldn't have enough water circulating in the water jacket due to only having 1 and 1/3 of the stats open. Causing an intermittent overheat alarm Going to pick a new stat up tomorrow and go fishing Tuesday. I did test my overheat sensor as well, continuity was 0 ohms, working as intended.

Merc overheat alarm randomly at idle
The only way to test to see if its pumping oil is to run it on a remote tank, per the service manual, and I do not have one. I did check the continuity of the leads on the oil sensor, 0 ohms, which is correct according the service manual. I also took apart the oil pump, the O rings, bushings were intact, the gear teeth and bore were clean of debris and free of damage, residual oil in there as well. Haven't checked the continuity from the leads on the overheat sensor yet. I'm going to drop the LU and go through the water pump system to see if I had something bite the dust. Before I do that I am going to run it on a tub of water to try to recreate the alarm. I think running it on the hose was forcing water through the motor. I've been busy at work, or it has been dumping rain.

Merc overheat alarm randomly at idle
It's 2 months old, the housing, the gaskets, the impeller, everything new oem product. My water pressure has not changed, indicating the pump is working as intended. I will be checking the overheat sensor to see if its operating correctly, then check the poppet valve on the lower starboard side of the block before I drop the LU again. I hate trying to line everything up and put it back in by myself. I will be inspecting the water pump last.

Merc overheat alarm randomly at idle
Motor is a 2.5L 2004 XR6 (carbed 150) At idle speed throughout the day I began to throw an overheat alarm (single continuous beeeeeeep) but would not throw one operating at higher rpms. Thermostats and water pump (all components) are less than 2 months old. PSI at WOT is 18-22, at 1k rpm it is 7-10psi and below 1k rpms it drops below 4-6psi. I would throw the alarm at the 600-1200rpm range. I pulled the stats and the rubber gasket is intact. Ran it without the thermostats on the hose and water flowed freely out of the left side of the water jacket while it ran slowly out of the right side. I could plug the left side with my thumb and the water would flow well out of the right side of the jacket. Any ideas what the issue could be? I couldn't replicate the alarm on the hose, idled at 5-7psi. I use the boat 1 or 2 times a week, 6 days ago no alarm, 2 days ago it went off about 6 or 7 times, and 0 times in the driveway yesterday. I had someone tell me that a single continuous beep could also be a oil alarm but I was under the impression that is "beep beep beep beep"?

Lakes in Sebring, Fl
Planning a trip to the Sebring area to fish, which lakes would be considered best for fishing offshore? I've already been to Poga; I am tired of fishing in less than 6ft of water all the time and would like get out on to some deeper water. Looking at the navionics web app it seems Lake Jackson, Lake June, Lake Letta, Lotela Lake, Lake Huntley, and Crooked Lake have the best contour lines. I don't want to waste a day graphing and fishing an unproductive lake, any advice would be appreciated.

Lake Okeechobe recently
Remember the grass acts like a filter and cleans the water. Pelican was real muddy on the outside line, South bay was a bit better in the areas that had eel grass mixed in, wind was ripping when I was out the other day

Blue Lagoon, Miami boat ramps
What ramps are the safest? I'd rather not have my truck broken into/ stolen while fishing...

Lake Okeechobe recently
I didn't even try boy scout, I went the long way around to Pelican Bay, onto South Bay then ran to the Harney Pond area. Then I ran from Harney Pond to Clewiston and ran the canal back to Slims
