Metanium MGL for cranking

Featured Replies

All of my casting reels are Metanium MGL’s except for one Chronarch MGL. It is used for cranking. I’m always looking to eke out a little more distance with my cranking set up. Does anyone with knowledge of both know if I can get greater distance with the Metanium than a Chronarch MGL?

I own both, for me I don't see a significant distance difference.

Probably not a huge difference between the two, but the Metanium probably does cast further.  I've heard of guys complaining about the gears going bad in the Metaniums when using moving baits, mainly crankbaits.  I don't crank enough with the Metaniums to notice, but I do throw other moving baits that have drag/resistance with them and they're just as smooth as the day I bought them.

Good luck with your search.  :thumbsup3:

I never had any issues with my Mets for moving baits.  However I never used any of my Mets for cranking.

I'm confused, you have both reels but are asking us which one casts farther?  Makes sense...:dontknow:

If I wanted to remove all the variables and put the same line on both reels and use my crankbait rod to test both, I suppose I wouldn’t have had to post asking for someone with on the water knowledge.
