I'm looking to add a second finder to my 07 Tracker Avalanche for the front. I have the stock Lowrance 86 TX at the cockpit. Just looking for opinions on what I should be looking for. Not interested in GPS or chartplotters. Seems to be way too many out there with too many bells and whistles. Thanks.

I run a Garmin with the transducer mounted on the trolling motor.

I use it mostly for depth and water temp.

Get the highest verticle pixel count you can afford. The Humminbird 565 and Eagle 480 are good low priced units.

What about the Humminbird 777c2 Fishing System?  I've been doing research on it and it seems to give more bang for the buck without all the distracting bells and whistles.

get a color unit, you will not be dissapointed.

For a low budget go with the Fishmark 320 or 480 great for the price.  Stay away fro the lower end Hummingbirds, waste of money.  Trust me their on several of or work boats and they don't compare to the Eagle's.

Not real worried about price just want a good unit.  The Humminbird 777c2 Fishing System seems to be a good color unit without all of the extras.  I don't think it's a lower end unit just because of the resolution and dual beams.

My boat isnt big enough to justify two finders but the one coming will be and Ive thought about this ALOT.

This is what I want.... buy two of them exact same model, place the transducer on the transom and network them together so that they both read IDENTICAL. Then use GPS and markers for my positions.
