Susquehanna River near Scranton - anchor tin boat to fish

Featured Replies

I am looking to anchor a tin boat on the Susquehanna River and fish for smallies in May.

we are looking for a good launch where we wouldn’t have to go far to catch some nice bass.  Preferably a launch closer to Scranton.  Any help is appreciated!!

Look at the Pa Fish and Boat mobile app. There is a section called “Near me”, gives you all the access points and boat launches on the Susquehanna. Quite useful!

I already did that.  I’m looking for local knowledge that would let me know which of the boat launches or places to fish close by that produce.

I just found this thread. I would try the Apple Tree launch between Harding and Ransom. In May, depending on the weather, you may have to look for where streams dump into the Susquehanna to find the smallmouths because the water coming into the river will be cooler. If the weather is hot I would use smaller baits like beetle spins or ned rig baits. Don't forget tubes in the 3 to 4 inch range.
