Featured Replies

hi there, just bought a 12' Aluminum boat jon boat for $250 on craigslist. im picking it up tomorow morning..........now it has already been modified with a deck in the front with a storage compartment, and a bench in the back, both carpeted.

it also comes with a mounted minkota 40lb trolling motor

i feel like i got a good deal, but i dont have a trailer, so im gonna have to put it ontop of my minivan lol

lemme know what you think, did i get a good deal?? also, im thinking of modifying it even more, maybe with some rod holders and a seat on the deck. please give me suggestions :)

thanks

Nice boat, Im looking for one just like that about that price.

Good deal, IMO....BUT you are going to need a trailer for transporting it! A nice little 4x8 flatbed that you can strap your new jon boat should do the trick. Hope you can also install a trailer hitch to you mini-van.

idk you should have tried to get a lower price. when my mom bought my first boat for me she bought a 14' jon boat with deck two pedestal seats and a very new trailer and a 7 horse johnson motor for 300$. you should have tried to go lower on the price.

just watch when you flip that thing upside down to put on your roof. make sure the decks do not fall out as your driving.

yea im gonna have to try and load it on the roof lol, and yea i should have got a better deal, but in Massachusetts, these boats are hard to find.  most non modded jon boats without motors are 300 or 400

well in the future ill need a trailer, any ideas where i could find a cheap one?? and what kind of trailer??

thanks

james

Check out the RED TRAILERS on Ebay. 4'x8' flatbed would work. You can probably find a cheaper one around your area. Look on Craig's List.

You got a good deal, I don't care what anyone says.  Sure there will be better deals, but I'll bet that $250 is less than most other comparable boats in your area.  X2 on the get a trailer.  I just got rid of my 12 footer that I didn't have a trailer for.  Just getting it in and out of the bed of my truck was hard enough, I can't imagine putting it up on the roof.

That was a great deal anywhere in this country, not everyone gets that once in a lifetime boat deal(boat, motor, trailer, etc. for $400).

::)

its a good deal. im interested to see how stable it is for you with that deck that high. let us know

its in my posession, lol i did it easy without a trailer.

my freind came with me so we took his chevy tahoe, and about 50ft of rope.  we are gonna do some work on it, then it needs to be registered in MA

but its nice, bigger than i imaganed but lighter as well. its a great fit for the top of a car.

That is a great deal around here!

I pick up my for $400,1 yrs old 46lbs TM, battery type 29, battery charger and  2 chairs mount on the bench in a way that you can slide it left and right.

How wide is the bottom of the boat?  If it is anything below 36in, I would be very careful when you bring a friend along.  Your deck may be too high up.  Just my 2 cents!

Check out Low budget hooker thread.

You must be a very big guy to lift it up on top of the tahoe!   My jon boat is 32 bottom and 44 top.  So, I just put it inside the van.

I'm also in the Boston area, where do you cast lure?

Tight line,

me and a freind tested it out today, runs nice, we went to some pond in westwood MA, caught nothing but my freind  caught a pickeral and rainbow trout

we were only there for an hour just to make sure the boat worked lol

but once its registered i might take it down to the quabbin reservoir or find some other bigger body of water lol

Do you keep them?

The water on mystic lake isvery clean for a body of water that are in the city area.

Forgot to mention that the upper lake is where I normally go.  It got a loading dock there.

tight line!

Nice looking jon boat and the price you bought it for isnt bad at all, i think you got a pretty sweet deal with it being decked and having a trolling motor IMO

Talk about a sweet deal!

Yeah good deal for sure....in canada an aluminum anything that can float cant be bought for less than $500....at least around my area....so nice score!  My boat with 20hp motor was $1600...i have a thread in here where i fixed it up, she was in rough shape!

If you personalise yours a bit you'll love to get out in it even more!!
