DIY Jon boat Dolly help
My diy dolly can easily hold more then 150lb. I tested my standing in the middle of the 2x4 and bouncing on it. IT cost $90 because of the hand truck. If you remove the cost of hand truck, cost is under $60. The two loop on each side is the the strap. This dolly also float. Before I purchased the trailer the way I transport the jonboat with TM and battery in my van. When I got to the packing lot, I strap the dolly on and roll it down the ramp. I only remove the dolly while my out in the pond/lake. tight line!

DIY Jon boat Dolly help
Hi Hunter, I purchased a used Hand truck for $35. It was a little more than I wanted to paid but it is make off aluminum (frame) and magnesium (wheels and bracket). This did not work out too well because the wheel was on the small size. So, I got two of these ... http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1277431&cp=2568443.2568444.2598675.2602604.1260400&parentPage=search&kw=wheel&sr=1&pg=2&origkw=wheel&searchId=39010541283&searchId=39010541283&searchId=39010541283&parentPage=family This setup work much better over bump on the ramp. All said and done it cost me about $90 with all the hardware. However, I converted the bracket back to the hand truck and use all woods for the dolly. This was all done last year. This spring a friend of my neighbor had a trailer for sale. I got the trailer for $150, repair hubs and light cost $80, Title and reg $50 and Uhaul trailer hitch $300. Total around $600 just to have a used trailer on the road. You can have my dolly for half price if you want. I'm in Melrose but can meet you in Quincy on Monday after work. tight line

measure Battery with a fishfinder
More info. this one from http://www.batterystuff.com/tutorial_battery.html#8 6. Battery Testing can be done in more than one way. The most popular is measurement of specific gravity and battery voltage. To measure specific gravity buy a temperature compensating hydrometer and measure voltage, use a digital D.C. Voltmeter. A good digital load tester may be a good purchase if you need to test batteries sealed batteries. You must first have the battery fully charged. The surface charge must be removed before testing. If the battery has been sitting at least several hours (I prefer at least 12 hours) you may begin testing. To remove surface charge the battery must experience a load of 20 amps for 3 plus minutes. Turning on the headlights (high beam) will do the trick. After turning off the lights you are ready to test the battery. State of Charge Specific Gravity Voltage 12V/6V 100% 1.265 12.7/6.3 *75% 1.225 12.4/6.2 50% 1.190 12.2/6.1 25% 1.155 12.0/6.0 Discharged 1.120 11.9/6.0

BPS Extreme as first baitcast reel?
I got the ETX10HFA reel along with their TYS66MT rod about two years ago and they are still working just fine. I find this combo is great for a heavier lure. If I would just using a worm I would have to set the brake to 9. oh, this is on a 15lb line. I only can cast about 50' at this setting. With a heavier lure, I can set the brake back to a 5 or 6 and the cast go 150' or more. I think you would be happy with the reel just match with right rod for what you want it to do. Following the setting instruction on this forum and practice!!! I'm still learning! This work great ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDI5kwR5zjc tight line!

Which mono doesnt get memory fast?
For mono only ... People seem to like both the Trilene XL or the Suffix Elite. ?Here is a review on the Elite ... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewsufixelite.html They like the XL too but they score the Elite higher for casting and low memory. I picked the Elite due to a deal at Target fro $6.24 normally $8.99 and rebate for $6 for two spools. Otherwise, I would go with the XL $5.99 at Dick's Sporting plus $6 rebate for two spools as well. However, it seems like braid with 4' - 6' fluoro leader is the best combo. After, reading many thread and review. I HAVE NO REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE! tight line!

Suffix Elite.
What weight are you looking to get? I just pick up two 17lbs elite at local Target for $6.24 each. Suffix has a $6 mail-in rebate for 2 spools. http://www.sufix.com/downloads/coupons/sufix_2009_coupon.pdf now, I'm wondering if 17lbs is a little too much for baitcaster setup.

if you only can pick one, Which line would you pick?
Thanks for all that have voted! I think we can do better! Should have have split this into two groups, one for spin and one for cast? Thanks,

Yo-Zuri Hybrid question
You didn't notice any difference? Really? I have been using Yo-Zuri Hybrid for quite a while now and I find it superior to mono. Much smoother casting, very little line memory, great strength, very abrasion resistant, very little stretch etc... I would most definitely recommend this line. Later, Yes, I got this line for all the reasons you mention. However, I have a difference experience about his line. Yes, the strength and stretch is better but the cast and memory is no difference to me. Maybe, it just needed some KVD. I will try Trilene 100% fluorocarbon pro. line this year.

You have question on line? Try these ...
Just like a lot of you, I too looking to replace my line. I have both spin and baitcaster. I was looking for a line that have low memory. I thought the answer was braided until I learn/hear about the negative side of braided line. The answer to my quest is Fluorocarbon. Next which fluorocarbon, because it have negative side as well. Found this website ... http://www.tackletour.com/reviewfluorocarbontestpg2.html and http://www.tackletour.com/reviewtrilenefc.html I also like the Trilene XL(mono) as well. PS. Trilene have $10 rebate if you purchase two fluorocarbon.
