I am currently having some trouble with my new reel. The sideplate will not come off. When I push it down it will move about a quarter inch and then won’t budge at all. This obviously isn’t normal, so does anyone have advice for me?

Do you see the tiny unlock glide switch on the side I hope?  Once in the unlock position just a gentle twist and it should come right off.

Ya I know how to use the reel. I switch it to open and try to turn but it’s stuck.

Make sure your spool hasn't shifted toward the sideplate too far. You may have to use your thumb to move it toward the handle.

I tried that also. No luck

Try loosening the cast control knob completely and then rocking the side plate as you try removing it. I know the bantam has a rubber o ring inside that makes the side plate hard to remove.
