Trolling motor mount for canoe

Recommended Posts

ive got a pic of the rig i came up with but cant get it to post, sorry. its basically a wood plank that i notched to fit over the gunwales and i anchored it in position with angle brackets  mounted to the gunwales as well, then i took 2 heavy aluminum strips and mounted those to the top of the plank, and then bolted those to the gunwales too about 18-20 inches behind the plank. the plank sticks out about 15 inches off the port side and i put the motor there. if this doesnt make sense, pm me your email and i will send the pic i have.

I have clamped my trolling motor directly to the side of my canoe.  as long as i dont raise it high enough that the prop hits the botom of the boat it is fine.
