Worm head with CPS keeper - does it exist?

Featured Replies

I'm looking for something along the lines of a sled head or a freedom hydra head (basically a hook with an integral front weight) but that has a CPS instead of a traditional EWG. I tried replacing the hooks on the freedom with a CPS, but the eyelet is too small with the CPS in it. It just seems like I trash fewer baits with the CPS.

Does this exist?

Title shot jig heads don't use the Owner CPS keepers but might be worth a look.

Jewel Baits makes a shakey head that seems to be kinda on the lines of what you're looking for.  Their Fin-Nesse

jig heads work good also, but they have a different kind of bait holder, not a spring.

If you get hitch hikers, they are kind of like the owner CPS springs, but they are easier to attach, I think.

Another option might be to get any of a number of hooks with center pin springs or other bait attachment system and then just peg the worm weight.

Hitchhiker spring should work, I use them my jigs for a long time and before made my own. Springs don't work on flat eye type jigs, the hook eye needs to be inline with the hook point and bent up so the spring misses the jig head.

Owner Sled Head has a spring behind the head to hold soft plastics.

Thanks y'all. I also found this (but backordered).

I have some of the cps springs separate too, ok to just bend the hook so it'll be parallel with the back of the soft bait?

Don't try to Bend tempered steel hooks they weaken and break. The jig either works as is or it doesn't.

Have you looked for larger sled heads?  I think Confidence Baits sells them.  I had a guy make me up some larger sled heads and I am really liking them. They are a little rough due to the mold not 100% working with the larger hooks but they work great.
