Hello everyone.  I have a Lowe Big Jon 14' boat that I recently purchased a Minn Kota Maxxum Trolling motor for (don't have yet).  I am looking for suggestions on how to mount this as the boat has a lip on the front.  Can I simply use a 2x4 or 2x6 and mount to that? Or do I need to build up the entire front end?  I am unaware and cannot find anything online about the width of the mount, so I am also not sure what size wood I would need.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yea just bolt some boards to the bow. Make sure it's nice and sturdy then mount the tm on the boards.

Have a Lowe 16ft. We welded a piece of aluminum across, bolted it to that. Been great. Whatever you choose make sure the trolling motor when in the down position is as close to dead center of the bow as possible

I took a single piece of 2x8 (or 2x10, forget which), cut to shape/size, then carpeted and bolted to the deck. Matched the rail height perfect, and simply hung the nose of the motor mount just over the edge. Minn Kota also.

When you retract that motor how far does it overhang on the port side? It looks like it would stick out a bit. I’m getting ready to mount my old Motor Guide on my Lowe 1648 but my trailer has bunk guides. I’m afraid the motor would snag on the guides when trailering.

2.5-3 inches honestly. I have side bunks as well, maybe they’re set further back, they’re not even close to it. Only issue I have at times is docking the boat on the port side. But that’s a 1 and 50 issue in calm water. It’s the best $100 I’ve spent not counting that one night in Charleston SC that didn’t include aluminum or trolling motors..
