Out with old, in with the...not so fast

Featured Replies

Between a deck restoration and painting the inside of my house, I have fished less this Spring than any other in recent memory. I did get away to KY lake a few weeks back and was able to get out and bank fish for a few hours at a pond yesterday.

So at KY lake I put the old T-Rig up against the Toyko Rig. For those of you not familiar with the Toyko rig, it's almost a cross between a drop shot and a Jika rig, you can Google it. Anyway, by far, the old Texas rig outperformed it down on KY lake.

Now I did the same comparison yesterday at the pond, the winner went to the Toyko rig by almost the same margin. Then for kicks, I broke out a Carolina rig and it blew both away....by far.  Very unscientific I know, but I used the same plastics for each "test". At KY lake, it was the same lizard, at the pond, the same worm.

No real point here..lol just an observation, trying new rigs is fun but don't forget the classics.

After bass fishing for over 60 years the only thing to rely on is trail & error to deterime what the bass want.
