Anybody know anythign about this boat?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone I am finnally getting ready to make the jump to a "real" boat.  I currently have a 1970 12ft sears gamefisher i got for free but it isnt big enough for me.  Anyway i found a boat for sale its a  1965 Evinrude Ski Lark with a 40hp evinrude motor.  Owner said the engine runs good has good trailer and boat in good shape.  All for $500.  Im going to take a look at it tommorow but other than check the transom for rot and cracks and flex.  I know to check the hull and floor rot.  make shure it starts and runs obviously but is there anything in particular i should be looking for with this boat?  Its a 14ft and its looks pretty deceant for the pictures i cant see the interior since its covered though so im interested to see that.  Is this a good brand of boat to be starting out with?

Thanks for any help everyone! this forum is great..

Joe

Got lots of views but nobody knows anything about this boat?  What about just any advice on buying a used boat that i should look for?

I have a 76 Ranger rated for a 85 horse. The one your looking at may be under powered. check the rating before you get it. But at 500 may not be a bad deal if all is solid.

Yea its almost just what i was looking for.  Something that is small..14ft and wide that is stable enough to take 3 or 4 people out on and have a good time.  I can also do some fishing off of it since it got a pretty open area in the floor plan.  The motor might be alittle big for my needs as i like to go to nokamixion with is 20hp max lake but i can either put my 5hp evinrude on as a kicker or get a 20.  But i mostly want to use it in the delaware and maybe some shelterd bays..

Anyone see anything wrong with this boat that i am overloaking for what i want to do?

Below is a list of every boat manufacturer and Evinrude or Ski Lark is not listed meaning someone else built this boat.

Well i dont know anything about that list but from the research i have done OMC did make boats in the 60's.

Thats one of the websites i found with information on these boats. So i know evinrude/OMC made the boat.  But i just need to know what to look for when buying such an old fiberglass boat.  I understand if this boat isnt your thing but if you were looking at a boat this old what would you be looking for?

Thanks

Joe

Your list of what to look for covers it pretty well   :)

Since my previous post I had sent an email to a friend who owns a ship yard and he sent me this site. Nothing wrong with older boats I fish a Skeeter tournament with a buddy in his 1977 Wrangler.
