$150 Bass Pro Gift Card need a new rod & reel

Recommended Posts

I have had a blast fishing Texas Rig this year and want a new rod. I am currently using an old KwikStick Rod and a Trion Reel. I want to upgrade. I am looking for a spinning Rod and Reel for under $200 from Bass Pro for fishing Texas Rig and Carolina Rigs. Where I fish there is not a lot of cover, I fish from a kayak along the bank and there are some limbs, and brush but nothing crazy. What rod and reel would you buy? Thanks

For that price I'd save 30$more and get a carbonlite combo.

Thanks, i have been looking at the Johnny Morris Carbonlite 2.0’s and was trying to decide between a 20 or 40 reel size. I have been researching and have read a lot of positives about this rod & reel

In the spring, I bought the 6'8" m-xf spinning rod and the 6'9"Mh-xf casting rod in the Carbonlite 2.0 model.

No regrets at all. Very comfortable and lightweight. Plenty sensitive for me. I find the xf action to be perfect for my style, not too fast and not too slow. It replaced my former favorite rod the st Croix mojo 6'8 m-xf which I really liked but it was a little too stout for what I wanted.

My spinning rod is paired up with a Pflueger President XT 30 spooled with 10 lb braid and a 6lb copolymer leader. It's my finesse set up. Mostly ned rigs, drop shot, neko, and lightweight Texas rigs (zoom trick worms and Senkos).

Great to know. I have the St Croix spinning Mojo Yak rod. Been throwing neds with it. But wanted a dedicated texas rig rod. Thanks

If your gonna use flourocarbon ormono I'd get the 40. Bigger spool is less line issues.

That exact reason i usually use a braid with a flouro or mono leader

pro qualifier 2 rods are $60 online right now.  you should be able to get the store to price match or order online and ship to store.  pair it with a pflueger president XT or supreme.  size 30 if you are going to use braid

Hmm i think i actually have a Pflueger 35 on a rod im not using. Cant remember if its a Pres or a Supreme on rod im not using. With the price of $60 i could order 2 rods and use the reel i have. I need to replace a bait caster with a snapped tip. Hmmm might just order 2 Med Hvy rods
