Any assistance required: fishing north texas

Featured Replies

Hey figure I might as well post on here as I’m trying to get into the whole fishing scene here in Texas. I was a decent angler in south Florida... however seems that my technique and or bait choices don’t work for me in north Texas.i primarily fish senkos and soft plastics targeting bass usually weightless however I’ve noticed that, that doesn’t seem to do well here ??‍♂️

Most north Texas lakes are shad based most have small bass so down size 4 to 8 lb test small lures 1/16 to 1/8 oz shad patterns

You probably are looking at highland reservoirs like we have here in MO.  If so worms, jigs, brush hogs, tubes, crank and spinner baits etc are what I use.  Points, rocky windy banks, and bluff ends are where I would start.  Don’t be afraid to go as deep as necessary to get bites.

I think the people above are thinking more about the clear water lakes in the panhandle. (What most people outside of Texas think whenever we say north Texas).

There are some big bass in all of the lakes around here but there is also a lot of fishing pressure.

On lakes with timber don’t worry about casting to every random tree in the water. Instead focus on breaking down specific areas (points, ledges... flats in the spawn).

I would try to give you some special baits but it really just depends on the lake. A lot of people throw jigs. Also, don’t be afraid to throw some finesse stuff in the dirty water.

Ray Roberts has some nice grass once the weather warms up. Lake Fork has some too. Maybe some of your Florida techniques could work with that.
