928JLH Posted June 17, 2019 Posted June 17, 2019 Anyone purchase the PA15? Looking to get into an AR again. They are $500 right now. I don't need anything top of the line. Just curious of your thoughts on them, and if the dollar to quality ratio is there. Quote
jaimeastin Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 I just ordered a parts kit for $250 for a lower I have in another state. I will be putting it together next month. You put one together for $300 with all their parts. Personally, I have yet to find a "bad" AR. That's the beauty of them, they are very basic and fully serviceable. I can update next month 1 Quote

Pretty happy with the purchase now. The upper and lower are 7075 T6 and the barrel is a nitride 4150V Chrome moly vanadium. Will probably get a cold hammer forged FN barrel upper down the road. Definitely upgrading to a quality nickel boron BCG. Looks like it's pretty easy to build ARs and PSA has some killer deals. It seems building is the way to go. Quote

Yep, that will go BOOM just like any other. My kit was a blemish kit. I don't mind that at all. I was surprised it came with the BCG and all at that price. I should purchased a second one just because of the price. 1 Quote

Might as well buy now before pricing jumps with election jitters. Quote
GReb Posted July 11, 2019 Posted July 11, 2019 Cheaper kits are generally fine for occasional use at the range for funsies. If you plan on throwing thousands of rounds down range or really heating one up that’s when the higher quality guns really shine. Or if accuracy is your goal If you buy patiently you can build a very high quality gun for less than $900. This is how I’ve built two. Mixed bag of parts found on sale over several months. Bravo blem uppers and bcgs, spikes lowers and barrels etc. 1 Quote

Trying not to annoy the Mrs. too much with firearm purchases! Quote

Picking up a M&P 2.0C or a Steyr M9A1 this weekend! Trying not to annoy the Mrs. too much with firearm purchases! Well, that's the thing. You can always upgrade for better parts down the road. For ME, the AR is a dirty ole service gun. I like bolt action gun for general accuracy and hunting guns at that. With the modular AR, we can build it however we like, the basics all do a satisfactory boom and my lower cost custom builds have all been accurate. I like to buy blem parts and used parts as well. On the other note... I just sneak them into the safe and then bring it out later like I have had it for some time. I almost bought a new hunting rifle yesterday... Still thinking about going back to get it. The deal was good for one, but would have been great for the other. I should have pressured them to the price and discount that was advertised... 1 Quote
