is a Penn Pursuit II rod worth the warranty replacement fee?

Featured Replies

I purchased a Pursuit II med/heavy combo. I never even used the rod and noticed one of the plastic rings on the guide was missing. Unfortunately, it was over 30 days after I purchased it. Penn wants to charge a 19.95 processing fee. They do not do repairs, so they will send me a new rod. I'm guessing I get to still keep the rod with the damaged guide. Do you think the rod is worth $20? This was a budget setup.

Honestly all penn rods and reels I’ve kinda used and see. were underwhelming and most of them seem to have their issues. My buddy used to use penn gear until his equipment barely lasted a fishing season like a guide would fall off or something. I would say no it’s not really worth it. And to maybe save up for something else.
