I just need to replace some guides on some Penn guides. The rods are not expensive. Should I just use Fuji guides? I noticed amazon sells some cheap kits. Where do you get your guides for budget type rods?

I've been looking at Walmart and Academy. I may have missed the Owner brand at Academy. I just thought they would be more prevalent (Eagle Claw, etc.).

For some reason, I'm having trouble finding regular J hooks. Are they called by a different name? I'm looking for a 3/0 size. I see a lot of live bait J hooks, but they are offset. I'm looking for hooks for a Gulp swimming mullet (without jighead).

This is for a Penn Pursuit II. The drag knob doesn't make a clicking noise anymore when I turn it. I noticed that it has two screws on the bottom. Is there a way to fix the issue?

On the lower end of the spools, there are three lines/rings. I always try to spool up to the last line or a little above it, since it seems to be about 1/8" to the top. Do the other lines refer to how full the spool is (33 percent, etc.)?

I purchased a Pursuit II med/heavy combo. I never even used the rod and noticed one of the plastic rings on the guide was missing. Unfortunately, it was over 30 days after I purchased it. Penn wants to charge a 19.95 processing fee. They do not do repairs, so they will send me a new rod. I'm guessing I get to still keep the rod with the damaged guide. Do you think the rod is worth $20? This was a budget setup.

I purchased a Penn Battle II combo for surf fishing from amazon. They just taped the label to the thin plastic bag that was around it. I'm surprised it wasn't damaged.

Do you use the grease or oil inside the spool and gear for spinning reels? I saw a video where someone puts few drops of oil where the handle slot is as well. I ended up putting the grease on everything. I'm not sure if I should have applied the oil instead.

I was going to try braid for the first time, but I don't want to spool the whole reel. I was going to use mono backing. I'm planning on buying a 150 yard spool of braid. How do I know when to start the braid, so I get a full reel? I'm trying to use up the entire 150 yards of braid.

It won't let me apply OVERTONS40 to my cart any longer. It looks like it is dead. Is anyone else able to apply it?

Do you look at the gage height or the elevation above navd? Also, I'm assuming you look at the Chuluota chart and not the Oviedo based on the depth. Do you know of any other good areas for big bass in this area? Also, I would like to do some crappie fishing as well.
