Two new lures!

Featured Replies

Just went out and bought the

Yamamoto 4'' Senko- Green Pumpkin/Black.

Hard Nose 5'' Toad- Green Pumpkin.       Havn't heard anything on this bait but looked and smelled good. Any of you fish with them? How do u hook them and how do you fish them?

Also I bought Gamakatsu Offset Shank Worm EWG 2/0.     Will this be the right type and size for the Senko's?

And finally, how do you make O-Rings for the Senko? Where do you put it on the Senko and how do you place the hook through it?

Thanks Guys

The EWG worm hooks you bought are perfect for the senkos, IMO. As for the Toads, try using a 5/0 EWG hook and rigging it texas style, weightless.

What exactly is t-rigged and wacky rigged?

T-Rig means Texas Rig.

By going to the top of the page and hovering over the Tacklebox and then clicking on the Fishing Glossary you will find the answer to many your questions.

Wacky rigged is not on there.

Well then what is wacky? And so thats just how u set the hook in the bait? Not how u actually fish it?

trigged and wacky refer to how you put the hook in the bait. Wacky rigged means you put the hook right in the middle of the worm and let it hang there with the hook exposed. You fish it in open water to avoid hangups and just pull it along w/ your rod and reel in the slack, you can also jerk/twitch it.

Good luck fishing! :o

Well I fish alot of ponds, so would t-rigged to best? How would you work the bait in the water?

Go with wacky set up with your Senko and be sure to watch your line.

The ponds i fish in have some muck in them though is it going to be triicky to to fish wacky?

I already answered your toad question in your other post.  As far as the senko fish it trigged if you have muck.  Personally I don't ever fish the senko wacky b/c i'm always catching to many fish trigged to think about changing.  Don't get me wrong i'm sure wacky works to many people swear by it.  Anyways trig the senko throw it out wait 15-30 seconds before doing anything.   Then with a swepping side motion pull the bait, let bait settle back to bottom and reel in slack.  Repeat steps until bait is out of strike zone.  If there is fish around your usually going to know it before you do any repeating of steps.

You don't make O rings you buy them in a hardware store, little black round rubber circles. Pick a finger the diameter of your senko and it should fit tight over the tip. It goes on the middle of the senko and the hook goes under it, when hooked up the worm will slide up the line and not get mangeled.

I keep a lot of small rubber bands that work when doubled and are very cheap, use for carolina sinkers and lots of other stuff too, grips the line but will break away if hung up.

For O rings get a hollow tube, copper or plastic that the senko can just slide through, put the o-ring on it and roll it off at the middle of the worm.

 Hope this helps, Capt. Bob
