New to Boating world bought a used 88 Skeeter starfire with a 150 Merc blackmax and was told I need to add fluid for my tilt and trim but my question is what kind

Any good hyd. fluid will do, In fact you can use ATF in it.

If you ever need a tilt/trim motor for it let me know. I had one just like it go out several years ago and found a dealer on Lake Livingston that stocks them They are just north of 100.00 per unit.

FYI, they are the same unit that Cesnna uses to retract the landing gears on their airplanes and there are rebuild kits available for them. Don't try to buy from Cesnna though, they charge twice what a boat dealer does.

I suggest you stop by any marine dealer and pick up some Mercury tilt and trim fluid. I would be afraid that ATF may not be compatiable with the seals.......................Al

ATF will work fine, been there and done that.

I'm not wanting to start a conflict, but all ATF's are not even compatiable with each other and the recommended fluid for his application is readily available at almost any marine dealer.....Al
