What do you think of this outboard?

Don't want to get into a controversy of which boat to buy, but what do you think of a 2004 Mercury 115 ELPTO 2 stroke? It's on a 17.5' bass boat. I had the present owner remove the engine cover and it doesn't look like it has ever been started. Everything is pristine as the boat has been garage kept and it is one owner.

There is nothing wrong with it except I think it is a carb engine and some EPA restrictions are banning carbs from some waters.  If it is carbed than most any wrench turner can work on it.

Take it for a test drive, check the looks of the lower unit fluid, and have the compression checked.  If he hasn't changed the impellor then do it if you buy the boat.

X2. And take it to a mechanic and have him check it out. Do not take anyone's word on the shape of any boat and motor. It will be the best money you ever spend.
