Jon boat

Featured Replies

I'm going to purchase a jon boat here soon and have a few questions. I know im getting a 14' i just dont know what make to go with. i would like a wider bottom for more stability but im not sure whats wide and whats not when it comes to jon's. I was looking at a 14x32 Alumacraft, is 32 wide enough? Not wide enough? What maker offers a wider boat? Thanks in advance.

32" is not wide enough. 48" would be the smallest width I would consider. JMHO

Lowe's have some boats you should check out.

No, I think he meant Lowe, the boat company. I've got a 1648 Lowe jon (16' length, 48" width) and I love it. Agree with the other poster that you should look for something wider, more near the 42"-48" range for that length. Narrow is usually tippy. Get online and look at a few manufacturers and see what models they make. Definitely lean toward the concept of wider is better.

LOL, Lowe boat Co. Not Lowe's home improvement. Thanks guys, I thought it would be unstable just had to double check my references. Prices sure do go up for another half a foot width  :-/. Looks like it will be another few weeks.
