  1. I don't have the patience for dead sticking, but works. Caught some of my pb from it. 6 years ago I won the lunker pot with a 6.3 smallie, caught her from picking out my birds nest, felt like 10 mins. Gone by. Start reeling in all that slack and felt that pig on the other end... woo hoo..
  2. I bought my kids the journey 10' sit on kayaks for when I take the canoe on the backwaters. Anyways, I took one of them out one day to see how it was with my big ass on it, wasn't to bad for a beginner. I should add, we use these on shallow creeks and the backwaters of a few lakes around me, these aren't used for main lakes or fast moving water. So I can't comment on how they are in those situations.
  3. You'll be ok. A couple years ago I was pulling a 18' astro with my 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander with the 3.0 v6. I didn't have any problems. If you're hard on your brakes, then you'll be replacing them more often hauling the boat.
  4. Its the gasket for number 27 on your diagram. You can either order a gasket through Mercury or go to the auto parts store and get a roll of make a gasket material.
  5. For both of my kids, I used a bobber and tied a fly (for fly fishing) on. The bobber would be the weight to make a nice cast and the fly does the rest. My kids still use that trick when they're bored. They out fish me every time. As for a lure to cast and retrieve, I've let them pick out what they wanted to use, they always went back to the old heddon torpedo.
  6. Hey all, it's been a few years since I've posted, divorce and life happens. I had to sell my big bass boat. So now that I'm finally getting back on track in life, it's time to get back out on the water. Not a bad boat for $300 to use on the limited lakes around here. I still have to change the layout on the boat to make it a bass boat, then a trolling motor. But I'll be floating soon enough. The top picture is after about 6 hours of scrubbing.
  7. Wow. Nice smallies Dwight! I can't wait to get back up Erie this year. What lure were you using that day?
  8. Jt, just talk to a local gas station. I'm sure they will give you some kind of sponsorship. I have a tiny 2"x4" sticker on my boat with their name. That's it.
  9. Welcome to bass resource.
  10. They started catching them pretty good after the skies were clear. Idk if anybody else noticed that.
  11. For me it's a local gas station. The nights before a tournament they fill my van and boat up for free. As I said in other posts, my kids race quads and the same deal goes with them. It adds up through out the year. That's about it though. You made me chuckle with the snow shovel idea.
  12. Use spray paint to get the body color then go back and do the details with a detail brush. I've done a few lures that way.
  13. Oh yeah they will. When I fish up in erie that's one of their main food sources. I like to dropshot a poor boys 4" goby
  14. From the bank, it's hard to get at the good structure. But your on it already, I fish all the lay downs I can from the bank, also try and look for rocks, creek channel's or natural springs that come into the Lake or pond. I use Google Earth my Lake or pond and you can see things you might not see standing there looking around.
  15. Rage craw and I can't believe nobody said the space monkey. I pitch or flip the space monkey Alot. For me the colors vary throughout the year.
  16. Fishing a jig out deep in about 18-25 ft of water.
  17. I like those jig heads, but for thick grass I would switch up to a pegged tungsten bullet weight with a gamakatsu 4/0 or 5/0 hook
  18. I use green braided line on one rod. Color never matters to me. If I'm worried about color then on another rod I have it set up with a fluorocarbon leader.
  19. Welcome to the forums. I never tried making my own baits, I've looked at it before.
  20. For a fast moving frog I use the rage toad. For a floating frog I use a Spro. Black in low light conditions or muddy water and white in clear water.
  21. Welcome to the forums
  22. Hello welcome to the forums.
  23. I have thousands and thousands of Dollars wrapped up into fishing tournaments. No offense Glenn, I've been around here awhile but... When someone wants to start paying me back or give me some kind of sponsorship, then I'll wear their name proudly and represent them with all I can. My kids have a couple sponsors for quad racing and they give the graphics on the quads for free and all the parts I need are at their cost.
  24. I agree Dwight. If I had a state record in my hands I wouldn't let her go. If anything, I would put her in the livewell and contact fish and game on my way back to the launch. Weigh it, take some great pics and have a replica made or nice skin Mount.
